Lorries weight limits

Any goods vehicle from a transit van to an eight-axle articulated lorry, can be stopped and checked to see if it is within the prescribed safety limit.

Strict limits are set by the Government to minimise wear and tear on our roads and for safety reasons.

Weight limits can also be introduced on certain roads, such as residential streets if the route is unsuitable for heavy goods vehicles and an alternative route is easily available.

Lorry Watch is a scheme operated using local people to detect the misuse of weight restricted routes by heavy goods vehicles in Nottinghamshire.  For more information and to report overweight vehicles using Nottinghamshire roads please go to Lorry Watch
