Equipment, Aids and Adaptations

There is a wide range of equipment, aids and adaptations you might be able to get to help you stay safe and independent in your own home.

Mobility Aids

You can get information on mobility aids, such as scooters and stair lifts, as well as advice on where to buy them from the Disabilities Living Centre.

Sensors and alarms

Sensors in your home can detect when things have gone wrong and alert a support centre. Staff can either contact you to check you are alright or alert family or friends so they can take action.

Everyday Living Equipment

Small items of equipment to help you with everyday tasks.

Adaptations

You can get alterations to your home to help you (or anyone who cares for you) manage essential daily activities more easily.

Television Licences and Telephones

In certain circumstances we may be able to pay for you to have a telephone installed or contribute to your television licence.

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapy service can give help and advice about getting equipment and adaptations.
