Adult Deaf and Visual Impairment Service

The Adult Deaf and Visual Impairment Service (ADVIS) provides specialist support to people who are:

  • Deaf / deafened / hearing impaired
  • Blind / visually impaired
  • Dual sensory impaired


ADVIS has specialist workers who understand the difficulties caused by a sensory impairment.

All of the Deaf team can sign and access to an appropriate interpretation service is guaranteed.

You do not have to be registered blind / visually impaired to access our services.

We support people who live in Nottinghamshire. If you live in Nottingham City contact Nottingham City Council to find out about the services available from them. 

 

What support can we offer?

The specialist support we can offer includes:

  • information and advice about your situation and support in the community
  • communication support when dealing with organisations and official paperwork
  • help with everyday living skills
  • specialist equipment to make everyday living easier

If you need a community care assessment to get long-term social care suppport we have specialist workers who know about your disability and can support you through this.
