Cycling strategy
The Council is committed to increasing the safety and number of cycling trips, particularly journeys to work. Our Cycling Strategy [PDF] sets out how we will work towards these goals.
Cycling design guide
The policies in our strategy are backed up by our Cycling Design Guide, which our engineers and planners use when designing new cycling facilities. The Cycling Design Guide was first launched in 2004. The guide is compiled from good practice, standards and guidance on cycling developed both nationally and locally.
The document has been updated to account for developments in cycling design and policy and lessons learned since the original guide was launched.
