Nottinghamshire Sportsperson of the Year 2011

Double Olympic Gold medallist Rebecca Adlington has been named as Nottinghamshire's Sportsperson of the Year.

Nottinghamshire County Council held a glittering ceremony at Becket School in West Bridgford to celebrate its 20th Nottinghamshire Sports Awards on Thursday 16 February – with Mansfield swimmer and global swimming star Rebecca Adlington scooping the top award.

Around 300 people attended this year’s event, an annual celebration of sporting excellence, and included attendees from the world of professional and amateur sport. Winners of the 15 categories were announced on the night. The awards were presented by Nottinghamshire broadcast presenter Andrew James - whose voice is heard by millions each week as he reports from matches on the BBC flagship Final Score programme.
