Get involved - have your say
  • We publish our proposed, current and completed consultations so that we can inform and involve you in the key council decisions.
  • We are now recruiting to our 'Nottinghamshire Listens' citizens' panel, a valuable resource of 8,000 people who help us evaluate and improve our services, telling us what matters in communities around the county.

Consultation

Consultation is important: as a council, we need to know that the decisions we make take into account the views of the people of Nottinghamshire.

Consultation - involving the public in the work of local government - has become an integral part of the policy-making process.

It's not simply about more open-government, although that too is important, it’s about making policies more effective by listening to and taking on-board the views of the public and interested groups.

Between the end of September and mid December 2008, people across the country were asked to have their say about their local area in a programme of major surveys called the Place Survey.

Consultation guides

We have produced a series of guides to good consultation. They cover topics including planning consultations, designing questionnaires, and analysing the results.

Public engagement policy

We have a public engagement policy. This helps us to ensure that we keep the people of Nottinghamshire at the heart of everything we do.

Petitions

We can also accept petitions regarding issues that might be important to you. Our page on petitions has more information.

National consultations

You may also be interested to see what consultations are being run elsewhere in the UK issued by the UK Government, the Scottish Government, the Welsh Assembly and the Northern Ireland Executive:
