The Budget Conversation

The Budget Conversation is your chance to give your opinions and ideas on how the Council can make the most of our budget next year (2012/13).

The total amount the authority has to spend is decreasing from £507m to £491m and pressures in some areas mean that money will need to be saved in others. This will allow the authority to increase its spending on protecting children, helping the elderly and supporting the disabled.

The majority of the pressures were foreseen so the Council has already planned savings totalling £45m. However, savings of £12m still needs to be identified over the next two years.

This means that tough choices lie ahead and we want to know your views before we make these important decisions. The Budget Conversation closes on 27 January 2012. All feedback will be considered by councillors.
