To get your vehicle from the road and onto your drive you will need a properly constructed 'vehicular crossing', also known as a 'dropped kerb'. This is to prevent damage to the pavement and/or verge and also protects underground pipes and cables.

Planning permission

If you want a dropped kerb outside your property you will need our approval. If the property is on an A or B road, or some C roads, you will also need to get planning permission from your local district council. Please contact your district council for more information.

Who can install a dropped kerb

A dropped kerb can only be carried out by us or by contractors supplied by us. If work is carried out by anyone else, we will charge for both correcting the original work and installing a new dropped kerb.

How to get the work done

  • Contact us on tel: 08449 80 80 80
  • We will provide a quotation for the work
  • You must provide a copy of the Planning Approval, if applicable
  • We will arrange for the work to be carried out and will then maintain the crossing as part of the road.

If we carry out major maintenance work on the road outside your property, we may give you the chance to have a standard dropped kerb constructed at the same time. Dropped kerbs will be provided 'at cost' and residents will be expected to pay in advance. Residents will be contacted at the time concerning this offer.
